Team Rocket’s blasting off again!

Posted in Daine, PvP drama, World of Warcraft with tags , , , , , on September 30, 2009 by mmoredrama

Well it’s been a while and frankly it’s hard to get back into the flow of doing something when you’ve had a pretty lengthy break, so pray forgive me if this isn’t some mind-blowing dramaz that you hoped it would be. It made me sad too. It’s still pretty cool however to think the age-old premise of having nothing better to do than wander round and gank people still holds true even in this late stage of the game. Bodygank of Sunstrider is one of these people, going even to the great lengths of bothering to take and upload screenshots of his prey, who may or may not be randoms greys. In his own words, this would be rough justice because:

First of all, like i’ve already said before in the past this is post patch 3.1 there is duel spec and this is a PVP server, theres no excuse for not having a PVP spec and gear in world and if you do want to walk about with a PVE spec then you have no one to blame but yourself.

Truer words have never been spoken. I guess. I remember with great hatred the days of running through Blackrock Mountain to try and get to my scheduled instance, only to have some turd decide they have nothing better to do than camp people endlessly. this would usually by rogues mind, so I guess the guy gets some kudos for being a Priest. I guuess he’s also one of those polarising figures that you either love or hate, with a variety of fanboys circle-jerking and calling him great while other ‘special people’, as referred to by their guildies, get great thrills out of killing him with their mates. If anything, he’s just a massive attention-whoring ego monster who probably would get off on beating his wife to make sure she’s saying all the right things when he wants them said. Pretty harsh of me to say, I know, but when you feel the need to make a post to see if, after your dose of hard pwn, your victim has learned the appropriate manners around you I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say they’re probably a power freak.

Sadly idiots are everywhere, and despite having a legion of pre-pubescent boys wishing they were women and craving attention on our very own realm forums, it’s been a while since I’ve seen anyone who actually dedicates their gametime to generating e-fame and causing drama over something so very pointless, yet oddly infuriating.

RL Drama Ruined Our Drama Blog

Posted in Daine, Katie, RL Stuff, World of Warcraft on September 24, 2009 by mmoredrama

We’re back! Erm… Again… *coughs*

Unfortunately, with the hectic chaos that we’ve both been victim to just lately, we haven’t been the most committed bloggers in the world. Well, we haven’t been bloggers at all, as technically we’d need to blog.

The bad news is that I (Katie) had a full time job. I know, sucks to be me. The even worse news is that I recently got the boot from said job due to me “not being good enough” at doing a million jobs at one time. The even worse news is that we are no longer going to university! ūüė¶ So a job really would come in handy!

But the GREAT news is that we’re having a little baby to make up for all of this trouble. And no matter how much he wants to, the baby isn’t going to be called Daine, Xanthya, or Alyssea (I know, what a geek)! We’re both really excited to become parents, even if it means putting off going to university for a year or more. He’ll constantly make “witty” jokes about how he’ll now have TWO children (he implies that I’m the other one), and I’ll constantly use my “condition” to get whatever the hell I want. Perfect!

So, a couple of times over the last week, I have mentioned this blog to Daine in an attempt to get it back up and running. Seeing as I’m at home more now, we’ve got plenty of time to start documenting the drama of the internet again. And plenty of our guildies have been pestering Daine to get the blog going again, so it seems we are (slightly) missed. However, it will be quite bizarre writing a blog about World of Warcraft when I haven’t played for AGES and ran out of game time yonks ago. Earlier, I made some passing comment about WoW end game and it turns out I actually have no idea what the top level of content is right now. So… Should be fun.

Anyway, enough talking (Daine says “self-indulgent rambling”).

Shield of the Self-Righteous

Posted in Daine, General Forums Drama, Idiocy, PvE drama, Uncategorized, World of Warcraft with tags , , , , , , on August 12, 2009 by mmoredrama

Now, I’ve written about Allene before, but after browsing the General forums as we do over the last couple of days I feel compelled to do so again. I don’t think I’ve ever, in all of my 4 years in WoW, seen someone so far up their own arse that they came out the other side brown. As you will have seen if you read that post, Allene is a player that doesn’t feel he/she (I’m not really sure, so from now on I’ll just use he for no other reason than it most likely is) needs to comply to general ettiquette within the game, and isn’t interested in doing content in any other way than his way. Despite posting many, many gems in many, many threads, I’m going to focus on this one.

Since 3.2, on overpopulated servers it has been harder and harder to get into instances due to the ‘can’t be launched’ message. To be expected really, with everyone and their dog farming for mad T8 badge gear. A lot of the points the OP make are pretty fair, showing the level of spaz apparent in the WoW community at large. However, Allene manages to derail the thread away from the OP within the first page, and make it all about his problems. This might however be due to the fact that he’s a tool and everyone hates his self-righteous drivel. His argument is that by not allowing people in blues and some BoE epics tank heroics and 10 mans, you’re not allowing them to experience the game in the way it was played in November. Top guilds got to do it this way, so why should casuals have more pre-requisites put on them to experience the content now? Obviously not because these ‘no-lifers’ as he likes to call them have been working together for ages and generally are pretty good at this raiding thing.

So let me get this straight. Instead of farming badges for easier gear being a good thing, it’s actually stopping people from being able to experience the game, and makes it harder for casuals to gear up. Right. Let’s just take a moment to look at this guy’s Armoury. Can I just add, for the record, that I’ve maybe done four Heroics, one Naxx 10 and one Ulduar 10 as a tank on my Paladin, and have better tanking gear than this. Maybe that fact that his gear is shite and he has a terrible attitude is the real reason he can’t get groups. With that out of the way, we can see that effort to buy BoE pieces is above this guy. Naxx 10 was tanked by x guild in November like this, he should be able to aswell. Fair enough. Just don’t expect 90% of the community to agree. Apparently though, he wouldn’t even be getting carried as you can’t carry a main tank.

This doesn’t end here though. As you may have noticed, Allene is guildless, but not through lack of trying in a massively stupid way. What guild would really accept a guy who, and I’m paraphrasing here, will delete any piece of offspec gear that he didn’t earn while playing the offspec, will demand to tank everything to progress his character as he won’t be boosted, and won’t farm badges from Heroics/Naxx unless he’s allowed to do it ‘the hard way’. This would all be fair enough if he’d set up his own group, but I guess that’s harder than forcing people to agree with you. Another thing to note is he won’t read tactics in advance, as the raidleaders back in November didn’t know the tactics so why should he? Again, more pressure on casuals now. As good as all this is, the real kicker is that ‘no-lifer’ hardcore raiders are scared of people being able to get Tier 8 gear because it levels the playing field and will show up their lack of skill. I’m starting to see a flaw in the self-proclaimed consistent argument that he prides himself on here. Gear is so hard to get becuase no-one lets you, yet it levels the playing field and takes away the exclusivity the ‘no-lifers’ covet so much because it’s easy to get. Right.

Going back to the guild thing, he feels he needs to be upfront about ‘his way’ because he doesn’t want to deceive the guild he’s applying to into thinking he’s a team played who will compromise to help the group move forward (my words not his). Ironically, Allene is also the maker of an add-on that creates fake achievements for you to link, so you can deceive raidleaders who demand them for entry to their groups. Definitely a masterclass in showing how to be an upstanding, intelligent contributor to the community right here.

P.S. I forgot to mention that Katie just started a full time job, so chances she won’t update quite as much, or at least not until late in the evening.

Giving PvP a Hand!

Posted in Burning Blade, Daine, Idiocy, PvP drama, Realm drama, Uncategorized, World of Warcraft with tags , , , , , , , , on August 11, 2009 by mmoredrama

World PvP is a pretty rare occurence these days, with most people either ignoring it completely or just having the oddnowhining city raid because achievements are cool. Not so for these guys. Zylos Hand, of Frostwhisper, Ravenholdt, Al’Akir and now Burning Blade, have one mission and one mission only: to gank. A highly cowardly practice, I’m sure we all agree. Bolvar with stupid accents certainly does, proclaiming them ‘some kind of noob guild seriously’, and that they should ‘go raid or something’. Crying about their ganking antics aside, some of the realm seem to really enjoy the new take on things. The Hand have objectives like ganking at stones to cut supply lines, which is pretty cool imo. Due to them being a big pain in the backside, this wonderful month hath been proclaimed ‘Whack-a-Rat’ month, and the great omnipotent King Zylopfa has rallied his troops with this stirring war cry:

Greetings Sharandarat,
your subtle insult against King Zylopfa The Omnipotent
has not gone unnoticed. The iron fist of Zylos Hand will strike down
upon thee and break thee like a rotten tree struck by lightning.

Any Ratty uprising will be delt with swiftly and descicively. We shall see
in the comming days if your mouth spills over with that which your guts hold,
or if you indeed have intentions of fulfilling your redicoulous suggestion of
ratty disobedience.

To break your battle moral, the Zylophian Troubadurs and Bards have
versed their discust towards your being and your faction of furry plague carrying rodents.

Final Breath! Final Breath!
Prepare to meet the final death.
The swif blades of the Zylophians
Will spill your guts in northrend lands.

The next verse is for you Sharanda
for your courage this i’ll hand ya
Your insolence is foolishly unheard of
only a paladin with bubble/hs could dream of.

We shall fart right before you bubble
paladin with fresh air trouble?
You will be begging for mercy soon or late
like bolvar fordragon at the wrathgate.

Be warned insolent rats!
This uprising will be met with ironclad
slayers of the hand, with cow and cowdad
standing side by side defending the land
We are the Ratslayers of Zylos Hand!

Hail And K!LL, and let the battle commence!
King Zylopfa The Omnipresent.

All sounds pretty ace to me. Whining and crying about lame ganking, or a cool attempt to revitalise a dead practice? You decide. Hail and kill. (This is not technically hardcore drama I know, but it’s been dramatised in a lighthearted fashion by the members of the realm that aren’t all whining muppets.)

Moving on, the forums are aflame with complaints of a slightly different nature. Since Patch 3.2, twinks have been up in arms about the split battlegrounds; one for those wanting experience, and those for twinks wanting their free kills. This thread attempted to be a well-thought out argument about why the system is terrible, but came across as some guy whining about how he can’t beat the crap out of lowbies anymore. QQ. The OP was deleted, but some guy quoted it in full at post 10. There are many such threads and they only seem to become even more numerous, but now with the XP change to Battlegrounds, it now seems to be more of a case of ‘what other stupid obsolete crap could we possibly whine about?’. Well, for you lucky readers aspiring to be on the level of the most proficient whiners, here are some suggestions.

1) Not being able to hit higher level players. Yes indeed. How is it fair that even now twinks are gone, I can’t go into a Battleground at minimum level and pwn face with my levelling gear?? Hit needs to be removed from BGs so low levels still stand a chance of killing higher level players. It’s not like level should be an advantage in this game at all, gear and skill should be the only thing that matters!!

2) PvP servers are ruined because you can’t camp anymore! The OP, probably realising what a massive prat he was deleted his post, but I have it right here.

Not only has the destruction of twinks like myself in the BGs resulted from Blizzard’s desicion to activate experience in BGs, it’s also had ruinous effects on PVP servers – now you’re unable to corpsecamp lowbies, as they can just queue for a battleground, rez and immediately press the accept button in order to get their experience through the battlegrounds. This is completely outrageous and destroys the spirit of PVP even more than it already has been with cross-faction characters being enabled. Something must be done about this – perhaps a debuff preventing battleground access for 15 minutes after your death to another player.

Yes indeed, World PvP is dead. No longer being able to grief that level 35 hunter that killed you in STV with your level 80 is a crying shame, and I for one declare this game dead. This could indeed be a very clever troll, but then why delete the OP? Besides, it’s not like you can’t just wait for them to repop exactly where they queued from and kill them again. Hilarious nonetheless.

3) Classes aren’t balanced at lower levels! Well shit, who’da thunk it. As such, all classes should henceforth have identical skills, talents, gear and stats in Battlegrounds along with having their latency universally regulated and only be engageable by equal numbers. PvP should also take place on a rectangular map which is exactly symmetrical, and even then PC framerates might make it imbalanced.

4) Not enough experience from PvP! Yes, it’s indeed unfair that in a game primarily built around PvE, you can’t level as fast in Battlegrounds. You should get free experience for running around the middle of WSG like 90% of the other facerolling tards and just XPLODE-ing your way to 80. I wholeheartedly agree that from now on, PvP in repetitive battlegrounds should be the fastest way to level, and while you’re at it allow Recruit-a-Friend PvP mode which gives you a constant damage buff for HKing your way to victory please. And also…

5) You don’t get enough gold from levelling. If you do choose to level through your beloved, highly challenging battlegrounds, you don’t even get any money for it. Not only that, but the gear upgrades stop at 60! Now, what is the point in experience in BGs if I can’t even get anything from it and I will be underpowered and can’t even afford repairs through my glorious conquest???

Yep, WoW sucks. Not in ways you might think though, we’ve all got the boredom factor, or the free epics, or it getting easier and yadda-yadda sadface. If you wanted to be a bit more original in your Blizzard hate though, the PvP forums are churning out some pure gold in terms of solid, imaginative problems and solutions to make this shitty game back into the powerhouse it once was.

Sarcasm Detector Test

Posted in Daine, Idiocy with tags , , , on August 10, 2009 by mmoredrama

Okay, after several of the posts we’ve made have been taken completely out of context, consider this an aptitude test super-cool-story-brofor reading the stuff we write. Here is a random story I found on MMO-Champion, please read it thoroughly. Take notes if you wish, this not a timed exam.

I met the greatest WoW player ever on the bus yesterday, but he might be more then that. ¬†He might be the greatest MAN ever. ¬†As I waited at the bus stop, an electric car rolled by. ¬†The man in the McDonalds Uniform commented that he actually has the plans for an engine that he designed that “uses a sprocket to run 6 tesla coils” that when it gets going generates more energy then it takes to power it, thusly infinate energy. ¬†He can make this power source of any size so it can run a flashlight or a city. ¬†Of course he can’t go public with this info otherwise “Big Oil and duracell” would be after him.

Then he told me all about his WoW characters. ¬†He has mastered the WoW economy you see. ¬†His level 20 alt has 700 GOLD! ¬†But not only that, his way to make money is so potent that he doesn’t even have to do it anymore. ¬†I’ll let you in on his 2 secrets to this financial guru. ¬†The first is that the greatest way to make money in wow is to prospect tin for moss agates. ¬†As we all know, moss agates are truely the rarest and most precious commodity in wow, and he can sometimes get 6 or 7 gold a piece. ¬†The second trick is with info this potent he no longer needs to do it. He whispers people on his server (who all know him from his total awesomeness) and offers to tell them this great secret if they give him half they’re profits for 6 months. ¬†Who wouldn’t take him up on this. ¬†So now every time he opens his mail box, there are at least 10 to 15 people sending him 30 or 40 gold each.

He figures he’ll reach the gold cap soon, which he insists is 2 million gold. ¬†At that point he might start selling gold on ebay. ¬†He’ll have to charge a little more the chinese gold farmers, but he is awesome and you know he earned it ligit with his mad knowledge.

But what will he be doing personally with this cash? ¬†I’ll tell you… fund the greatest character ever in wow. ¬†His 72 warlock buddy! ¬†Now his warlock is a legend on his server. ¬†Everyone knows how great he is and he spends much of his time being whispered by people to ask him how to play the game better. ¬†He also has to deal with the alliance making horde alts to curse him out constantly for being too good in pvp. ¬†At one point, one person decided to devote they’re wow life to it, but my new friend grew tired of being harassed 6 hours a day. ¬†He tried to be nice and warn the guy, or just ignore him and move on but he deleted all his characters to make more alts to yell at him. ¬†So he calls up his buddy IRL who’s a gm adminstrator on another server, who talks to blizzard for him, and gets the guy banned. ¬†OWNZED!

He also regularly organizes the greatest city raids ever. ¬†The horde love him so much, that he just says he’s going to raid an alliance town and then he has usually 7 full raid groups of max level players. ¬†They all have to stand in one place and move in a well organized group to prohibit lag, which isn’t a problem for him since he built himself a computer that has 15 processors, 6 moniters and keyboards, and he hacked into a wifi network so lag doesn’t effect him!

He went with many more stories until we reached the McDonalds that he worked at. ¬†He told me how he hacked wow and and instant kill people whenever he wants, how in real life he’s the equivilant of a 3 star chef, how great foods stamps are, but in the end, when he left I knew I had just met the greatest man to ever live.

Pencils down. All okay? It all sunk in? Got your notes handy? Okay. Sure you don’t need another look? Fine, fine, I trust you. Now, for those of you like Sarpanti who felt the need to do a point-by-point breakdown of the story in question, please never visit this page again. Your detector obviously failed miserably. As someone in the thread said, the story in itself really isn’t that funny, but the amount of tards who fail to realise that the OP didn’t believe this shite (or just made it up, who knows) is. Sarpanti did save himself with an obligatory ‘Lol I’m just bored’ when called out though, so I guess that brings him back in with the cool crowd. It seems he’s not the only one though, with 90% of the people in this thread either being muppets with ‘Cool story bro’ images in their various forms, or trying to dissect the story to prove that you don’t need 6 graphics cards to run 6 monitors, or that engines running thanks to perpetual motion don’t exist. Not only that, but when it’s pointed out to be a sarcastic pile of drivel, a stream of posters come in with ‘LOL IDIOTS NOT GET SARCASMZ ROFL!!!’. Ironically what I’m doing here, but screw you guys, I know this stuff :(.

So kids, in case you don’t realise what constitutes sarcasm, please study this story so that in future we can all enjoy the internets further thanks to our enhanced knowledge of the art of sarcasm. It also might help those who are more ‘challenged’ to get the point of what we write here, and not take us as some born again Christians campaigning against she-devils and nasty people through the power of the written word. Thank you.

P.S. I appreciate this post didn’t really require much effort on my part, but you try hunting for decent drama when the forums are infested with Patch 3.2 whine threads that cover the exact same ground with no attempt at making themselves look overly retarded or humourous. Tedious is what it is, though Katie has something pretty ace coming.

P.P.S. To enhance your enjoyment of reading the story, please watch this video and understand how sarcastic the cameraman is when faced with a pretty hilarious compulsive liar.

Patch day, ohnoes!

Posted in Conspiracy, Daine, PvE drama, PvP drama with tags , , , , , , on August 5, 2009 by mmoredrama

For all the patch day drama I expected to see, whining about twinks a couple of hours after the US servers came up 42be2_wi-gnome-warlock-twinkwasn’t one of them. In fact, I’d go so far to say that I thought twinking was a distant relic of the past reserved for the most retarded PvPers who had to go back in time and spend loads of gold and time on a level 29 just to get a sense of self-gratification and skill that they couldn’t achieve at the level cap. Apparently, I was wrong.

Crucifer made this post over at MMO Champion complaining that the experience addition to PvP has indeed ruined the PvP scene forever. Now, what you have to bear in mind is that this guy is a hardened pro when it comes to beating the crap out of undergeared alts who are just PvPing to break up the monotony that is levelling alone without the hallowed RAF bonus, to the extent that he even hosts a live stream of him doing so that apparently has attracted a host of fans the world over. I’m not sure what’s more disturbing, that he feels the need to broadcast his shallow and unrewarding gameplay to the masses, or that the masses actually tune in to watch this shite. Flame on. The general consensus tends to match up with my own, with the particular sentiment ‘Twinks are dead and nothing of value was lost’ striking a chord here at home. Now, in case you didn’t know, the experience change means (as far as I’ve been able to gather anyway) that instead of¬† having your generic 20-29 bracket for example, 27s get lumped in together, 29s do and so on. The irony is that the twinks were practically frothing at the mouth hoping that this change would reel is unsuspecting prey, whereas in actuality it’s just pitted twinks against twinks. Particularly hilarious when you realise that all their efforts now mean that they actually have no advantage at all over other players, as there are very few lower geared players at 29 to pick on. Also, even if this wasn’t the case, I’m not sure who’s idea of breaking up some levelling monotony with a bit of fun would be bunnyhopping at the graveyard waiting for a res every few seconds. Not mine. As an aside I was expecting mass qq about how crap Isle of Conquest is, but not yet. Not yet.

Another inevitable point of whining was always going to be the badge change, where people for the ‘easy’ epics are fighting tooth and nail against the masses of oppressors who don’t want to see those new scrubs in the same gear as them that they worked so hard for. Yes, you heard it here first, Ulduar is hard. Those few set pieces that you have that you were whining about due to itemisation/set bonuses/looks a couple of months ago are now available to everyone, after you toiled endlessly to get your hands on them. The game is indeed fucked. Generic moaning thread here, but at least it has some level of coherent discussion on the matter. As an aside to this PvE note, still no whining about the new content, but it’s just a matter of time. In fact, I was shocked to actually see positive comments about how fun it was. Those world firsts are serious business though, so clamouring over the first Northern Beasts kill may be bloody, with server-uptime being a key factor.

Fear not though, there is one more thing to scrutinise. The cinematic. Yet another thread here. This machinima shit isn’t good enough for us anymore, we want the good old CGI back. You managed it for WC3, why not each individual patch wtf??? THIS IS UTTER CRAP COMPARED TO EVERY OTHER WOW CINEMATIC EVER WTF!? Well personally I thought it was pretty good. Obviously not on the level of the Ulduar or Wrath ones, or even the Sunwell one but what the hell, it wasn’t exactly bad. In fact, given the lore they’re working with here, which is generally the major drawing point of these movies, I’d say they did well to make it interesting, even if it is just footage of gameplay that anyone with movie editing skills could make. However, and this is the big one, how many times in previous Blizzard cinematics have their been gnomes on Amani War Bears parachuting from airships, eh? EH? Never, so in my books this one is fooking awesome.

One thing I’m noticing more and more as we progress through WoW is how the level of whining is multiplied to the power of whatever patch number we’re on. At least through rose-tinted goggles, vanilla was awesome and TBC on release was pretty amazing as far as expansion go. Yeah, remodelled MC bosses and an impossible entry raid in Gruul’s Lair were my idea of ‘the shit’ too. That about rounds up what I’ve managed to find this far anyway, expect more over the next few days.

Tentacle beasts, srs bisnis

Posted in Al'Akir, Daine, PvE drama, Realm drama with tags , , , , , on August 4, 2009 by mmoredrama

Yes, yes, it’s another Yogg+0 funtiems thread, but with a twist that links beautifully into my last post about how girls on the interwebs make guys go crazy. Incarnia, of Immersion on Al’Akir-EU has decided that nothing but the server first of Yogg 0 watchers will suffice, and is willing to put herself on the line to prove it in a massively attention seeking way that will have the testorone-filled ritalin addicts of the guild (and the realm) fapping for glory.

Quoting her, she soooo badly wants to get the realm first on this kill, that this alluring photograph will be revealed in its entirety to her guild members if they manage to bag the kill before Sunday. Fun fun indeed. Apex, presumably their main competition (I wouldn’t know, Celebrity and DarkStorm were both big guilds when I played there) have released counter-propaganda, though I’m not really sure it’d do it for me unless Al’Akir is the primary gay community in Europe. I will agree though that happiness in the pants is paramount to fulfilment in life.

With the boobs (and maybe more??) of a potential hotty on offer, talk of sabotage in the ranks of Apex have begun to manifest. What are server firsts compared to stylish pictures that you can wank over to the end of days? Among calls of  Incarnia being a stupid attention whoring bimbo, being one of those wenches who tarnishes the reputation of femlae gamers everywhere, Pewpy comes to the rescue with mad Paint skills to render the mystery and competition null and void with this bad boy.

I can’t be arsed to post the amendment with a dick drawn on because frankly that kind of humour is far below the high standards of this publication. Is the Paint drawing good enough for the community, or do they desire ‘real’ pictures to fuel their wet dreams for eons to come? Will raids be scheduled non-stop until the tits are free on the web for all to see? Does this story make females everywhere wish for a gender change IRL? Tits, drama, e-whores and fanboys, Al’Akir has it all.
